Naan Pizza | stuffed naan pizza on tawa (without yeast) is a simple, tasty and delicious vegetarian flat soft indian bread prepared with maida, vegetables (carrot, potato, onion, tomato, capsicum, etc,.), spices and tomato sauce. This is prepared in indian style.
Yeast is not added to prepare the naan pizza dough. Curd and baking soda helps in raising and giving the naan dough a smooth texture. You can prepare an ordinary plain naan recipe or stuffed naan recipe and later convert it stuffed naan pizza recipe with the below method.

Naan Pizza | stuffed naan pizza on tawa (without yeast) recipe
Cooking time: 30- 35 minutes
Serves: 2 medium sized stuffed naan pizza
Ingredients
1 cup = 300 ml
1 spoon = 10 ml
1 tsp = 5 ml
1 coffee spoon = 2.5 ml
For making dough:
- Maida / All-purpose flour / मैदा / மைதா – 1 ¾ cup (where 1 cup = 300 ml) + 40 grams (for dusting)
- Cooking oil / vegetable oil / खाना पकाने का तेल / சமையல் எண்ணெய் – 3 tsp
- Baking soda / बेकिंग सोडा / சமையல் சோடா – ½ tsp
- Water / पानी / தண்ணீர் – ¼ cup (1 cup = 300ml)
- Curd / दही / தயிர் – 50 ml
- Sugar / चीनी / சர்க்கரை – ¾ tsp
- Salt / नमक / உப்பு – required
For making stuffing:
- Cooking oil / vegetable oil / खाना पकाने का तेल / சமையல் எண்ணெய் – 2 spoons
- Carrot / गाजर / கேரட் (small size) – 2 (grated)
- Potato / आलू / உருளைக்கிழங்கு (medium size) – 2 (grated)
- Onion / प्याज / வெங்காயம் (medium size) – 1 (Chopped)
- Garam masala powder / गरम मसाला पाउडर / கரம் மசாலா பொடி – ½ coffee spoon
- Red Chilli powder / लाल मिर्च पाउडर / சிவப்பு மிளகாய் தூள் – ½ tsp
- Salt / नमक / உப்பு – required for vegetables
For preparing pizza toppings:
- Cooking oil / vegetable oil / खाना पकाने का तेल / சமையல் எண்ணெய் – 1 tsp
- Green capsicum / bell pepper / शिमला मिर्च / குடைமிளகாய் – 1 (diced)
- Red capsicum / bell pepper / शिमला मिर्च / குடைமிளகாய் – ½ (diced)
- Tomato/ टमाटर / தக்காளி (medium size) – 1 (diced)
- Pepper powder / काली मिर्च पाउडर / மிளகு தூள் – ¼ coffee spoon
- Salt / नमक / உப்பு – required
- olive oil / जैतून के तेल / ஆலிவ் எண்ணெய் (Extra virgin) – 1 tsp
For preparing Stuffed Naan Pizza:
- Tomato sauce/ टोमैटो सॉस / தக்காளி சாஸ் – 2 tsp (1 tsp for each pizza)
- Cheese / चीज़ / சீஸ் – 50 grams (Grated)
- Cooking oil / vegetable oil / खाना पकाने का तेल / சமையல் எண்ணெய்– 2 tsp (1 tsp for each pizza)
Method
For preparing dough:
- Mix maida, baking soda, sugar, cooking oil (3 tsp), required salt and curd well.
- Add water to it and knead it into dough. Close the prepared dough with a lid for 4-6 hours.
- Divide the dough into 2 equal halves. Make balls with it.
For preparing Stuffing:
- Sauté the potato, carrot and onion with the cooking oil (2 spoons) for a minute in a kadai at medium flame.
- Add the required salt to it and mix it well.
- Add garam masala powder and red chilli powder to it. Mix it well and cook until the vegetables gets cooked well (4-5 minutes). Turn off the flame. Stuffing is ready to use.
For preparing Stuffed Naan:
- Roll the prepared ball into a round shaped using chapati rolling pin.
- Place the stuffing at the center and close it with the edges. Dust it with Maida (All- purpose flour) if required.
- Again, gently roll it to a round shaped naan of thickness (½ – ¾ inch).
For preparing Pizza Toppings:
- Sauté the green capsicum, red capsicum and tomato with the cooking oil (1 tsp) for a minute in a kadai at medium flame.
- Add the required salt and mix it well.
- Add the pepper powder to it. Mix it well and cook until the vegetables are cooked (80 – 90%). Turn off the flame.
- Add the Extra Virgin olive oil to it and mix it well. Pizza toppings are ready.
For cooking Stuffed Naan:
- Cook the prepared naan until it turns slightly golden brown on both sides on a tawa at medium flame (Grease the tawa with cooking oil if required). Turn off the flame. Cooked stuffed naan is ready.
For preparing Stuffed Naan Pizza:
- Apply the tomato sauce over the cooked stuffed naan.
- Add the prepared pizza toppings, stuffing (left over) and cheese (grated) over it.
- Cook covered in a kadai with cooking oil (1 tsp) at medium flame for 2-3 minutes (cook covered until cheese melts). Turn off the flame. Stuffed naan pizza is ready to serve.
