Pizza sauce | homemade pizza sauce recipe| पिज़्ज़ा सॉस | பீட்சா சாஸ் is a delicious tomato based dish prepared with fresh tomatoes, tomato ketchup, garlic cloves, herbs and spices.
This homemade pizza sauce indian style recipe is free of preservatives and artificial color, thus it makes the pizza sauce healthy. It stays fresh for few days, if it is stored in air tight container under refrigeration. The herbs that are added gives a unique flavour and taste to this dish.
This recipe can be made with both types of fresh tomatoes (country variety or bangalore variety). Pizza sauce | homemade pizza sauce recipe | पिज़्ज़ा सॉस | பீட்சா சாஸ் recipe
Cooking time: less than 20- 25 minutes
Ingredients
1 cup = 300 ml
1 tbsp = 15 ml
1 tsp = 5 ml
For grinding:
- Tomatoes / टमाटर / தக்காளி – 4
- Onion / प्याज / வெங்காயம் (medium size) – 1 (chopped)
- Garlic cloves / लहसुन / பூண்டு பற்கள் – 13
- Red chilli (Kashmiri)/ काश्मीर लाल मिर्च / கஷ்மிரி சிவப்பு மிளகாய் – 15
- Water / पानी / தண்ணீர் – ¼ cup
For preparing Pizza sauce:
- Olive oil / जैतून का तेल / ஆலிவ் எண்ணெய் (extra virgin) – 2 tbsp
- cooking oil / खाना पकाने का तेल / சமையல் எண்ணெய் – 3 tbsp
- Garlic cloves / लहसुन / பூண்டு பற்கள் – 15 (finely chopped)
- Onions / प्याज / வெங்காயம் – 1 big size(Finely chopped)
- Tomato / टमाटर / தக்காளி – 5 (finely chopped)
- Oregano/ ओरिगैनो / ஆர்கனோ – 1 ¼ tsp
- Black pepper powder / काली मिर्च पाउडर / கருப்பு மிளகு தூள் – 1 tsp
- Fennel seed (Saunf powder) / सौंफ़ बीज पाउडर / பெருஞ்சீரகம் விதை பவுடர்– ½ tsp
- Basil (Tulsi) leaves / तुलसी की पत्तियां / துளசி இலைகள் – 15 (chopped)
- Sugar / चीनी / சர்க்கரை – 1 ½ tsp
- Tomato sauce / टोमैटो सॉस / தக்காளி சாஸ் – 2 tsp
- Salt / नमक / உப்பு – required
Method
- Cut x marks at one end of the tomatoes (9 tomatoes)
- Boil the water until bubble appears.
- Soak the tomatoes (9 tomatoes) in boiling water and cover it (with lid) for 5 minutes at medium flame. Turn off the flame.
- Take the tomatoes from the water.
- Peel (remove) the tomato skin.
- Chop tomatoes (5 tomatoes). Chopped tomatoes are ready.
- Grind rest of the tomatoes (4 tomatoes) with onions (1 medium size), red chillies, garlic cloves (13 garlic cloves) and water . Ground puree is ready .
- Add olive oil and cooking oil to a kadai.
- Then, add garlic cloves and onions (1 large size- finely chopped) to it and sauté until it turns pink and transparent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes to it. Sauté and cook until tomatoes become soft.
- Then, mash it well.
- Add the ground puree, black pepper powder, basil leaves, saunf(fennel) powder, sugar, oregano and required salt to it. Mix it well.
- Cook covered for 5 minutes at medium flame.
- Then, add the tomato sauce to it and mix it well. Turn off the flame.
