Rava kichadi recipe hotel style |sooji khichdi recipe is a simple, easy, delicious and tasty breakfast / dinner / tiffin which is prepared with rava (sooji), vegetables and other ingredients. Tiffin sambar is an excellent side dish for this recipe.
This delicious rava richadi is prepared in hotel style with less ghee. It is always a hit whenever it is prepared in my house. Generally, rava Kichadi in hotels will be full of ghee but I have made with less ghee but still gives the same taste.

Rava kichadi recipe hotel style recipe
Cooking time: 26 – 28 minutes
Serves: 2 to 3
Ingredients
1 tbsp = 15 ml
1 spoon = 10 ml
1 tsp = 5 ml
- Rava / sooji / semolina / सूजी – 1 cup (1 cup = 300 ml)
- Ghee / घी / நெய் – ¾ tsp + ¾ tsp
- Mustard / सरसों के बीज / கடுகு – ¼ tsp
- Chana dal / चना दाल / கடலை பருப்பு – ¾ tsp
- Urad dal / उड़द की दाल / உளுத்தம் பருப்பு – ¾ tsp
- Cashew nuts / काजू / முந்திரி பருப்பு – 6
- Curry leaves / करी पत्ते / கறிவேப்பிலை – few (1 spoon)
- Onion / प्याज / வெங்காயம் (medium size) – 2 (finely chopped)
- Green chillies / हरी मिर्च / பச்சை மிளகாய்– 2 (largely chopped)
- Ginger / अदरक / இஞ்சி – an inch or slight more than an inch (finely chopped)
- Tomato / टमाटर / தக்காளி (medium size) – 1 (finely chopped)
- Potato / आलू / உருளைக்கிழங்கு (medium size) – 1 (chopped)
- Carrot / गाजर / கேரட் (large size) – 1 (chopped)
- Green peas / பச்சை பட்டாணி / हरी मटर – 1 ½ tbsp
- Turmeric Powder / हल्दी पाउडर / மஞ்சள் தூள் – ¼ tsp
- Salt / नमक / உப்பு- required
- Water / पानी / தண்ணீர் – 2 ¼ cup (1 cup= 300 ml)
Method
- Roast the mustard seeds with the ghee (¾ tsp) until it crackles in a kadai at medium flame.
- Add the chana dal, urad dal, cashewnuts and curry leaves to it. Roast it for 3 minutes.
- Then, add the chopped onions, green chillies and ginger to it. Sauté it until the onions becomes pink and transparent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes to it and sauté until tomatoes becomes soft.
- Add the chopped potatoes, carrots, green peas, salt (required for vegetables) and turmeric powder to it. Mix it well and close it with a lid (until the vegetables are cooked well).
- Then, add the rava/ sooji to it. Mix it well and sauté the mixture for 2 minutes.
- Add the required salt to it and mix it well.
- Then, add the water (2 ¼ cup) to it and mix it well.
- Close the mixture with a lid for 3 minutes to cook the rava (refer video). Then, open the lid and give a mix (please bring the bottom part of the kichadi to the top). Again the close it with the lid and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add ghee (¾) tsp to it and mix it well. Turn off the flame. Serve hot with tiffin sambar.
