Whole wheat chocolate cake is a easy, simple, tasty and healthy cake / dessert prepared with whole wheat, sugar, curd and milk. This is a healthy cake as it is made with whole wheat flour. This recipe is made without oven and eggs. This toothsome cake can easily be prepared in pressure cooker with easily available ingredients.

Cooking time: less than 90 minutes

Serves : 8 – 10


1 cup = 300 ml      

1 tbsp = 15 ml

1 tsp = 5 ml

  • Cooking oil (refined oil) /  खाना पकाने का तेल / சமையல் எண்ணெய் – ¼ cup 
  • Curd / दही / தயிர் – ¾ cup 
  • Vanilla extract / वेनीला सत्र / வெண்ணிலா சாறை– ½ tsp
  • Powdered sugar / தூள் சர்க்கரை / पिसी चीनी – 1 cup 
  • Whole wheat flour / गेहूं का आटा / கோதுமை மாவு  – 1 cup 
  • Cocoa powder / कोको पाउडर / கொக்கோ தூள் – 4 tbsp
  • Salt / नमक / உப்பு – ¼ tsp
  • Baking powder / बेकिंग पाउडर / பேக்கிங் பவுடர் – 1 ½ tsp
  • Baking soda / बेकिंग सोडा / சமையல் சோடா – ¾ tsp
  • Milk / दूध / பால் – 190 ml
  • Compound chocolate / चॉकलेट / சாக்லேட்– for grating (optional)
  • Salt / नमक / உப்பு – 1 cup for spreading


  1. Mix the cooking oil, curd and vanilla essence (extract) well.
  2. Sieve the powdered sugar, whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt over the above mixture.
  3. Then, add milk to it and mix it well (check the consistency of the batter in our video recipe). Cake batter is ready.
  4. Place a butter/ cooking / baking paper inside the cake mould.
  5. Grease the cake mould with cooking oil and sprinkle little cocoa powder over the mould (dust it).
  6. Pour the cake batter over the greased cake mould and tap the mould few times (to remove air bubbles if any).
  7. Spread the salt in the bottom of the cooker (remove the gasket and vent weight (whistle) from the pressure cooker) and close it with a lid for 10 minutes at medium flame.
  8. Place a stand over the heated salt.
  9. Then, place the cake mould over the stand and cook for 75 minutes at medium flame (low medium flame) (close it with a pressure cooker lid without gasket and vent weight (whistle)).
  10. Check whether the cake is cooked (insert a tooth pick or wooden stick inside the cake (the tooth pick should come out clean).
  11. Cool the cake mould after taking out from the cooker for 20-30 minutes.
  12. Separate the edges of the cake from the mould using a knife.
  13. Cover the cake mould with a plate and flip (to gently remove the cake from the mould) (refer video recipe).
  14. Grate compound chocolate over it and serve. You may like Eggless banana cake
