Veg Manchurian balls

Veg Manchurian balls is a Indo Chinese cuisine which is prepared with vegetables and sauce. This delicious dish can be served as a starter as well as a Side dish for Roti, Chapati, Naan, etc. Here is the simple recipe of it.

Veg Manchurian balls

  • Servings: 14- 15 manchurian balls

Starter and Side dish

Cooking time: 

For preparing gravy: 11- 12 minutes

For deep frying balls : 15 minutes

Ingredients

1 tbsp = 15 ml

1 spoon = 10 ml

1 tsp = 5 ml

1 coffee spoon = 2.5 ml

For Manchurian balls

  • Small sized Potato (finely chopped) – 3
  • Cabbage (finely chopped) – ¾ cup (1 cup = 300ml)
  • Large sized Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  • Large sized Carrot (finely chopped) – 1
  • Maida (All-purpose flour) – 2 spoons (heap)
  • Corn flour – 1 ¾ spoon (heap)
  • Rice flour – ½ spoon (heap)
  • Garlic – 8 cloves (finely chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste – ¼ tsp
  • Garam Masala powder – ¼ tsp
  • Black pepper powder – 1/8 tsp
  • Soya sauce – 1 ¼ spoon
  • Salt – required
  • Oil – for deep frying

For gravy

  • Cooking Oil – 4 tsp
  • Garlic – 5 cloves (Finely chopped)
  • Ginger – 1 ½ inch (finely chopped)
  • Large sized Green Chillies – 3 (slit)
  • Large sized Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  • Salt – required
  • Large sized Red Capsicum (Bell peppers) – 1 (largely chopped)
  • Small sized Green Capsicum (Bell peppers) – 1 (largely chopped)
  • Salt – required
  • Soya sauce – 2 tsp after sautéing the capsicum + (4- 5) tsp after adding the paste.
  • Water – slightly less than ½ cup (1 cup=300ml) + 40 ml for consistency
  • Black pepper powder – 1/8 tsp

For Paste

  • Corn flour – 1 ¼ spoon (heap)
  • rice flour – 1 tsp (heap)
  • water – 25ml (for preparing rice corn flour paste)

For Garnishing

  • Spring Onions (Chopped) – few

Method

For Manchurian balls

  1. Add potato to a vessel. Then, add cabbage, Onions, carrot and mix it well.
  2. Add Maida, Corn flour and Rice flour. Mix it well.
  3. Add Garlic, Ginger garlic paste, Garam masala powder, Black pepper powder, Soya sauce and required Salt. Mix it well. Make balls with it. Deep fry the balls until it turns golden brown. Manchurian balls are ready.

For gravy

  1. Add the Garlic, Ginger, Green Chillies and Onions to the cooking oil in a Kadai at medium flame. Mix it well.
  2. Add required Salt and Sauté for a minute.
  3. Add the Red capsicum (Bell peppers) and green capsicum. Mix it well. Add required salt and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Add soya sauce (2 tsp) and mix it well.
  5. Add water (slightly less than ½ cup or ½ cup where (1 cup = 300 ml)) and mix it well. Cook the mixture for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the prepared paste (Mix the corn flour, rice flour and water to form the paste). Mix it well.
  7. Then, add the soya sauce (4-5 tsp), Black pepper powder and Salt to it. Mix it well.
  8. Add water (40 ml) to it. Mix it well and Cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Add the prepared Manchurian balls and Give a slight mix. Turn off the flame.
  10. Garnish with chopped Spring Onions. Hot Veg Manchurian balls are ready to serve.
