Kudalai Idli (Moong Urad dal Idli/Moong Urad dal steamed cake)
Kudalai Idli (Moong Urad dal Idli) is a tasty and a nutritious Breakfast/Dinner recipe. This healthy steamed cake is prepared with Yellow Moong dal, Urad dal, Black pepper, Cumin, Green Chillies, Ginger, Channa dal, Curry leaves, Coriander leaves, Cashewnuts, Coconut pieces and Ghee.
This toothsome dish is protein rich as it is prepared with dieter friendly Moong dal and Urad dal. Moong dal is the healthiest among the dal and it is a rich source of Iron, protein, zinc, potassium and Vitamin B. As it is very low in calories and fat, it is dieter friendly too. It is a light food which can be easily digestible. It is rich in fiber which helps in decreasing the high LDL cholesterol. Urad dal is enriched with proteins, Vitamin B, folic acid, Iron and Calcium.
The combination of Moong dal and Urad dal in this delicious Idli makes it as a protein enriched food. It is a very healthy alternative to a normal Rice Idli. This delicious dish is a boon especially to vegetarians as it is a good source of Protein. This is my great Grandmother’s recipe and I prefer to cook Kudalai Idli (Moong Urad dal Idli) often as it is a good alternative to normal rice Idli.
