Instant Puliyodharai (Temple Taste Tamarind Rice in 3 minutes)

Puliyodharai is a Tamarind Rice prepared with Tamarind, Rice, Red Chillies, Coriander seeds, Urad dal, Chana dal, Ground nuts, Curry leaves, Fenugreek, Heeng powder, Turmeric powder and Sesame Oil.

Generally, preparing Puliyodharai is very time consuming. No need to stand for hours to make Puliyodharai anymore. It can be made in very few seconds with this Instant Puliyodharai mix. Sakkarai Pongal (temple taste) in Pressure Cooker)

Sakkarai Pongal is a sweet dish prepared with Rice (Hand pounded), Jaggery powder, Desiccated Coconut, Cardamom, Milk, Honey, Moong dal, Cashewnuts, Raisins and Ghee. In early days, Hand pounded rice was used for making this dish and I have used that for preparing this delicious dish.

It is very auspicious to offer this dish as Naivedyam (Food placed before God during Worship) as it is a combination of Jaggery, Milk, Honey and Moong dal.

This tasty dish is generally prepared in Brass pots, Mud pots,etc.. I used to prepare this dish in pressure cooker. This tasty dish tastes exactly like Temple made Sakkarai Pongal. I have followed the same ingredients as how temple Sakkarai Pongal (Sakkarai Pongal served in Temple) is made but I have prepared it in Pressure Cooker to make it easy. Jeera Poli is a delicious dessert which is prepared with Maida (All-purpose flour), sugar, rice flour, Ghee, Saffron strands and Cardamom. It is a deep fried Indian bread dipped in Sugar syrup.

It is the tradition to prepare Poli on the Occasion of Bhogi (the previous day before Pongal (Makar Sankranti). There are various types of Polis but I love Jeera Poli very much. Healthy Chayote (Chow Chow)Chutney

Chayote (Chow Chow) Chutney is a delicious Side dish prepared with Chayote (Chow Chow), Tomato, Onion, Chana dal, Fennel seeds, Urad dal, Seeds, nut and Spices. Chayote is very low in calories and it is rich in fiber. It doesn’t have Saturated Fat too. It is very good to include in diet especially by weight watchers. Try to include chayote at least once in a week for a healthy lifestyle.
As, I wanted to add good fat and Omega fatty acids to this dish, I have added pumpkin seeds and Flaxseeds. But it is optional.
Chayote will not be liked by many people especially Kids and they will be bored by the same Chayote Curry or Kootu. This tasty Chayote chutney will definitely be a change and it will be added in your list once if you tried this recipe. You can also store this Chayote chutney for 2-3 days under refrigeration.
