Bread bonda/balls is a scrumptious Appetizer/Snack prepared with mashed potatoes, green peas and spices. Here is the simple and easy video recipe.
Cooking time: within 10 minutes
Serves: 23-25 bread bonda/balls
Ingredients
- Bread slices (white/brown) – (23- 25)
- Potato (steam cooked/ boiled) – 3 (large size)
- Green peas (steam cooked/ boiled) – 40 grams
- Red Chilli powder – 1 tsp + ½ tsp (while cooking)
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
- Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
- Coriander powder – ¼ tsp (heap)
- Cooking oil – 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
- Cashewnuts – 5 (chopped) (optional)
- Green Chillies (finely chopped) – 2
- Onions – 1 medium size (chopped)
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Red Chilli powder – 1 tsp + ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
- Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
- Coriander powder – ¼ tsp (heap)
- Salt – required
- Lemon (small size) – 1/8
- Coriander leaves (chopped) – few
Method
For preparing stuffing:
- Boil/Steam cook the Potatoes and Green peas.
- Mash the steam cooked/boiled potatoes and green peas together.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red Chilli powder (1 tsp), cumin powder, Garam masala powder and required salt to it. Mix it well. Mashed mixture is ready.
- Crackle the mustard seeds with the cooking oil in a Kadai at medium flame.
- Add the Cashewnuts, green Chillies, Onions, ginger garlic paste and salt (required for Onions) to it and sauté until the onions becomes pink and transparent.
- Add the mashed mixture and red Chilli powder (½ tsp) to it. Mix it well and sauté for a minute. Turn off the flame.
- Add chopped coriander leaves and squeeze lemon. Mix it well. Stuffing is ready.
For preparing Bread bonda/balls:
- Prepare small size balls from the stuffing.
- Remove the crust from the bread slices using knife.
- Dip the bread slices in water and squeeze the water from it (Keep the bread slice on your palm and squeeze the water).
- Keep a Prepared stuffing ball at the center of the bread slice and enclose it with the edges of the bread slice (using hands) and roll it as a ball.
- Deep fry the balls in cooking oil until it turns brown in a Kadai at medium flame. Turn off the flame. Hot bread bonda (bread balls) are ready to serve.
